REDEFINING THE AESTHETICS OF LIVING

Studio Atmara is a Marin County-based  design practice offering interior architecture and design with a unique focus on decor and art.

Our mission is to create comfortable and sophisticated interiors that amplify one’s connection to space and time and transcend fashion of the moment. Studio’s signature aesthetic combines mastery of proportion, volume and light with materiality and textures, and is characterized by just the right amount of unexpected. We thoughtfully use natural materials, organic shapes, carefully selected art and decor to add whimsy and personality.

The result is always one of a kind, warm and functional style, that is both bold and elevated, but always comfortable and inviting.

TAMARA MARSH

Originally from Yugoslavia (currently Serbia), Tamara moved to San Francisco 20 years ago to pursue a career in Stem Cell Research. Growing up, she had a dual passion for science and interior design, studying by day, and driving her parents up the wall by re-decorating the house and painting her furniture, by night. On the weekends, she accompanied her grandmother to local (and sometimes not so local) flea markets. Finding heirloom pieces, and occasionally restoring them, was their shared passion, and one that remains still.

During her time as a scientist in San Francisco, Tamara often found herself relaxing in the evenings by flipping through the pages of Vogue Living and Elle Decor. She fueled her passion for interior design by remodeling her two Marin County family’s houses that she shares with her husband and two children. The process of transforming their spaces was so exciting and fulfilling that she decided to turn her hobby into her work life.

Tamara’s design aesthetic is influenced by the Australian contemporary interior design of Arent & Pyke and Tali Roth, European Garce & Dimofski, Vicenzo Cotiis, Joseph Diran and Pierre Jovanovitch and Californian Studio Shamshiri and Kelly Werstler. She draws inspiration from the rugged mountainous and coastal landscape, ephemeral snow, leafy plants and delicate flowers, the art of Basquiat, Picasso, Frank Stella and Georgia O’Keeffe, and from high fashion and shadow play.

Her mission is to bring her European aesthetic heritage overlayed with contemporary influences, shaped by the modern craftsmanship and colored with the Clifornian laid back “joy the vivre” into her clients homes.
